The Crow Road coming in from the north through Anniesland Cross is in fact ‘An Dròbh-rathad’ – part of the vast network of routes from the Highlands and Islands to the great trysts and fairs of the Lowlands. One of Glasgow’s old pubs, The Drover, is still to be found in the Gallowgate. Lorne’s opening salvo is the pipe version of the popular tune, ‘Gillean an Dròbhair’, followed by a love-song by the Gaels’ finest cattleman-poet, Rob Donn MacKay.
